Read the Written Presentation Evaluation Guide for specific guidelines as to how to evaluate written presentations of varying lengths. In this open-ended writing assignment, the students have 20 minutes during which to respond to the four questions in as great detail as possible. Provided that their comments make sense, any response is acceptable, whether or not the instructor agrees with their viewpoint. All that matters in this assignment is the quantity of information conveyed and how structurally accurate are the sentences.

Just like in previous writing assignemnts, in order to obtain a score of 100% for fluency in their 20-minute written presentation, the students need to achieve a minimum of 100 points pertaining to the quantity of content conveyed. This score will be reduced for errors in the manner prescribed in the evaluation guide. Encourage the students to write in paragraph form. To do this, instructors may want to model this form the students by writing their own responses in paragraph form. (In essence, we are trying to prepare them for the eventual writing of essays.) The first paragraph might deal with constitutes a good father in the student's opinion. The second could deal with the qualities and activities of a good mother. The third could explain why John Richardson succeeds or, more likely, falls short. The fourth would include the same information about Carol and a fifth and sixth could be added to include what the student feels each of these two characters must, should or could do to improve in their roles.
