Part 1 of the Unit 2 Test measures reading fluency and accuracy. The students are given fifteen minutes to read and reread the selection and to take notes. The teacher then gives them a sheet of paper with spaces for 15 responses and tells the students to write the answers (in English) to either the even or the odd questions. Their work is graded as follows:

• A complete and accurate response to the question = 2 pts.
• An incomplete, but accurate response to the question = 1 1/2 pt.*
• An incorrect, illegible or missing response = 0 pts.
• Pts. per item = 2 pts.
• Number of items per test = 15
• Total points = 30
