What must my computer be able to do
for the ULAT lessons to be functional?

  1. Your computer must be able to view a QuickTime movie and a PowerPoint presentation. If it is currently unable to do so, please click on the following links which will enable you to download the free QuickTime and PowerPoint viewers. Once you have downloaded the installers for these viewers, be sure that you go ahead and actually install them on your computer.

  2. Your computer must also be equipped with speakers or a headset so that you can hear the sounds of each lesson.

  3. Note that all images bordered in red, are links either to moving images, PowerPoint shows or sound files. Be sure to click on them to get the full effect of each lesson. The only exception to this is the red arrows at the beginning and end of each lesson, which are there to take you back to the previous page.

  4. If you would like to receive evaluation and feedback from a ULAT instructor, your computer must be equipped with Skype, with a webcam and with a headset for video and audio interaction.

  5. VERY IMPORTANT: When using the ULAT, every time you click on a red-bordered image, you should either see a video clip or hear a sound play. Depending upon the program that it has as its default multimedia player, your computer may give you a message asking if you want to "Open" or "Save" each file on which you click, making the process of using the ULAT very tedious. In reality, the ULAT is designed to play the video clips and sound files automatically within a frame on your screen without your needing to do anything. If you are receiving that "Open" or "Save" message, please send an e-mail regarding your problem to "[email protected]" and we will provide you with an explanation as to how to correct the problem.
